Jon has investigated a wide range of techniques and experimental methods for eliciting subjective user perceptions of sports equipment that are meaningful, reliable and reproducible.
Qualitative techniques have been used extensively to understand the attributes of importance to the user. Studies have typically used a thematic analysis to identify patterns in data collected from interviews and focus groups with players which has resulted in a series of relationship maps.
Questionnaires have also been used to quantify players’ thoughts, opinions and perceptions which have been statistically analysed to identify new trends.
